Jason Covert is a graphic designer, creative director, musician, and dad, though not necessarily in that order. A 25-year creative industry veteran and self-taught designer, his love for music and design began with an early interest in entertainment. After seeing acts like Elvis and KISS perform live, he knew he wanted to create and entertain people with whatever he did. After leaving home in Oklahoma for Los Angeles at age 17, Jason’s career went from music, touring internationally with funk band Fishbone in the ‘90s, to business owner, running legendary Ohio State campus coffee shop Idiot Boy Café, to designer, producer, and creative director, working with clients from Apple to Sunset Sound Recording Studios on graphic design, web design, audio and video production.
As Creative Director for Hennessey Digital, Jason leads the creative vision and execution, working with clients to design modern, beautiful websites and create a unique digital identity for their firm as well as partnering with Hennessey Digital leadership and internal teams to guide the visual direction for the company.
Jason lives in Hollywood, CA with his son, Miles, where they make and record music together as FunkRatz, a rap group steeped in ‘90s hip-hop with influences from Parliament to Cypress Hill. He’s a single dad who loves his son even more than he loves gangsta rap and collecting vinyl, which is quite a lot.
