It’s that time of year again: conference time! The National Trial Lawyers Summit in Miami (NTL) kicked off our 2022 events calendar in style, and it was great to be back with our legal industry friends.
Last year’s National Trial Lawyers Summit was our first live event since the start of the pandemic, and we were pleased to see the 2022 iteration bigger and better than ever, with high-caliber attendees and excellent production by the NTL team.
National Trial Lawyers Summit event highlights
The National Trial Lawyers Summit hosted several top-notch speakers this year, including Ben Crump. The business of law was a prominent topic on the NTL agenda, and sessions ranged from marketing to the operational side of running a law firm.
Once again, the Hennessey Digital booth was a hub for networking and in-depth conversations with friends like John Berry throughout the conference. The event moved this year to a larger venue, the Fountainbleu Hotel, and we were impressed by the level of service and care given to attendees and vendors alike.

Our founder and CEO Jason Hennessey spoke at NTL, fielding questions about SEO on a panel of experts who discussed what it takes to rank in the digital era. And because we believe in sharing what we know, a copy of his best-selling book Law Firm SEO was in every attendee’s swag bag at the conference.
Jason even got to meet National Trial Lawyers Summit 2022 keynote speaker and famed Miami Dolphins quarterback, Dan Marino. (Laces out, Dan! 🏈)
The Golden Gavel Awards
Held during the National Trial Lawyers Summit this year, the Golden Gavel Awards recognize excellence in law firm advertising, and Jason Hennessey had the honor of presenting an award.
Mark O’Mara won an award for his ad that highlighted a difficult topic and was well-deserved recognition for shedding light on sexual abuse in vulnerable communities.
Our main National Trial Lawyers Summit takeaways
In conversations with attorneys and industry friends, we noticed a few themes throughout the National Trial Lawyers Summit this year:
- The Hispanic market is a hot topic right now. Law firms all want to know how to reach the Spanish-speaking population. This goes for traditional media as well as Hispanic digital marketing and online content.
- Big growth is back. Now that courts are back open and cases are being settled and resolved, law firms are hiring and marketing aggressively. Smart, savvy, growth-minded lawyers are gunning to beat their competition and are investing in their businesses accordingly.
- SEO is on attorneys’ radars. Local SEO and Google Map Packs were among the questions Jason answered on the marketing panel he sat on, and everyone wanted to know about the impact of video and multimedia on SEO.
- Trial lawyers are doing amazing work. As our own Rob Coleman observed, the Golden Gavel Awards were a prescient reminder of the important work trial lawyers do every day: representing people who’ve been wronged and helping them get justice.
As always, we loved the opportunity to meet with clients, industry partners, and new friends over dinner and events. (And if you get the chance, snag an invite to party with Jim Onder on his boat. Brian Mossman approves!)
