Now that conferences and legal events are back in full swing, we were thrilled to be in Palm Springs for the AAJ Winter Convention.
Our Director of Sales Brian Mossman and Director of Business Development Rob Coleman manned the Hennessey Digital booth in the exhibitor hall, meeting with lawyers and discussing digital marketing strategies and SEO for their firms.
What is AAJ?
AAJ is the American Association for Justice, a coalition of trial lawyers working to defend Americans’ right to trial by jury and protect our civil justice system. It’s the lobbying arm for attorneys to create better laws that benefit their clients, pushing for reform in the halls of DC to help the American people.
Dedicated to its membership, AAJ hosts the largest gatherings of trial lawyers in the country at its biannual conventions. At these events, AAJ members come together for networking and educational opportunities (CLE).
Our team attended last summer’s Annual AAJ Convention in Las Vegas, and we love supporting the work attorneys do to improve the legal system through community, advocacy, and education.
This time around for the AAJ Winter Convention, the schedule offered a variety of sessions from leadership to marketing and management to meetups around specific law practice areas.
AAJ Winter Convention highlights
Held at the JW Marriott Desert Springs, the AAJ Winter Convention was a combination of social events, informal meetups, and educational sessions to learn about what’s new in the legal world.
The AAJ Winter Convention kicked off with a lavish Super Bowl watch party, where everyone was treated like a VIP. Throughout the AAJ event, attendees were taken care of at parties, golf outings, committee meetings, educational sessions, and vendor exhibitions.
Not only were California and Arizona-based lawyers in attendance, but national and even global law firms had representatives at the AAJ Winter Convention. More than 700 attorneys were in attendance for this iteration of AAJ’s signature events.
AAJ staffs their events better than most legal industry conferences—we should know!—and the extra effort didn’t go unnoticed.
We now know how valuable AAJ is from a lawyer’s perspective, and our founder and CEO Jason Hennessey says it best:
This event is important for lawyers to network and exchange information about things that matter. AAJ does incredible work, lobbying in DC to fight tort reforms. It’s a great group of people who genuinely care about making sure justice is served for people who have been harmed.
Our AAJ Winter Convention takeaways
As with every legal conference and event we attend, we always leave with priceless nuggets of information and contact info from new people we meet.
- AAJ offers the perfect blend of socialization and education. With top-notch events like the Super Bowl party and the Coachella-themed event, attendees were well-fed and entertained. But the real value came from the networking and educational sessions the lawyers had available to them.
- We’re not the only ones who believe in white-glove service. When we had a minor mishap with boxes of Law Firm SEO delivered to the wrong hotel, William Newton at the JW Marriott went above and beyond to make sure everything was handled. Special shout-out to him for the outstanding service! The AAJ team also did a great job of ensuring attendees were taken care of, and we noted how well-run this event was.
- Creating a memorable experience goes a long way. Service and care extends beyond just the event staff—at AAJ, and at any event. As legal industry partners, it’s our responsibility to make sure we’re taking care of the folks we’re there to support. A teppanyaki dinner made for a lively interactive event where we caught up with clients in an intimate setting, and everyone enjoyed a fabulous meal as valuable conversations took place.
