The fall events season is finally winding down, and our team is energized from what we’ve seen over the last few weeks. November 2021 had us bicoastal, traveling from California to Florida and back with stops in between.
Here’s a recap of the legal industry and other events we’ve just returned from—and what we’re looking forward to next year.
Trial Lawyers University
First, our CEO Jason Hennessey spoke at Trial Lawyers University (TLU), the brainchild of trial lawyer Dan Ambrose.
TLU Live happened for the first time this year in Las Vegas October 27-30. TLU offers live and on-demand training for attorneys in trial skills and more, and featured high-profile lawyers like Ben Crump, Natasha Chesler, and Eric Fong.
And Rob even beat Vegas’ own Sean Claggett at the TLU Cornhole Showdown. Good game, Sean!
Crisp Game Changers Summit
The next week, President & COO Scott Shrum, Director of Business Development Rob Coleman, and VP of Operations Matt McLean joined Jason for the Crisp Game Changers Summit in Atlanta November 4-6.
Led by Crisp CEO Michael Mogill, the Crisp Game Changers Summit is a high-energy event for law firms that are serious about growth. Lawyers attend this event every year to learn how to be fully engaged in their businesses to take their firms’ revenue and impact to the next level.
Big-name speakers like Malcom Gladwell educated and inspired the audience, and John Ruhlin even gave Jason a shout-out, calling him “Mr. SEO” from stage at the start of his presentation. Thanks, John!
And we got to spend time with clients and friends like Sara Williams Davis, who’s a trial attorney with Alexander Shunnarah.
The Crisp Game Changers Summit is a high-value, high-production level event. We’re already looking forward to next year’s conference at Mercedes Benz Stadium.
Wedding MBA
And because 2021 wouldn’t be complete without another trip to Las Vegas, Jason and Director of Sales Brian Mossman attended our favorite non-legal event where Jason got his start.
Jason began his SEO journey over 20 years ago in the wedding industry, so he’s like a local celebrity at this event. Wedding MBA is the premier annual bridal industry conference, and Jason presented at two sessions this year while Brian spoke with folks about Jason’s book, Law Firm SEO.
Atticus Summit
Finally, Rob and our Senior Director of Marketing Cindy Kerber Spellman headed down to Orlando for the annual Atticus Summit that took place November 11-12.
For nearly 30 years, Atticus has trained attorneys to grow their practices, providing coaching and resources for their members to succeed. Cindy and Rob loved meeting with people and educating them on the value of SEO and digital marketing, and we also got to connect with clients and other Hennessey Digital team members in person.
Rob had a chance to visit with Damon Pendleton.
And our Orlando-based Account Manager Nathalie Pierre took time for an IRL meetup with the team.

Fall 2021 Legal Events Takeaways
- “It’s all about digital.” Our jaws dropped when Alexander Shunnarah, who’s a top-spending lawyer on traditional media, said this from stage at Crisp Summit. He’s famous among legal circles for not doing SEO, and he even called out Hennessey Digital as the legal industry SEO leaders. (Call us, Alex!)
- For best results, you must invest. This goes for law firms looking to dominate their market in organic search, and it also applies to us. As legal industry partners, investing in the right events to stay on top of industry trends and connect with our audience is crucial for our agency’s success.
- Relationships rule. And speaking of success, each event we go to reinforces this maxim. Our clients, team members, and partners all play a key role in our business, and live events and meetups are the best way to strengthen these relationships.
What we’re looking forward to in 2022
With November almost over, 2021 has been a whirlwind—and we’re not slowing down any time soon.
Coming up, the winter 2022 iteration of the National Trial Lawyers Summit is happening in Miami in late January and our team is looking forward to kicking off the new year of events in style.
