Hennessey Digital, a leading search engine optimization (SEO) and digital marketing agency in North America, is seeking a highly organized, self-motivated person to join its team. The ideal candidate for this role is a consummate team player who is self-driven, has a problem-solving mindset, and has at least 5 years of accounting experience.
We are a fully remote and highly collaborative team of digital marketing thought leaders located all over the country. We provide white-glove service to our clients, and we’re looking for a thoughtful team member who can ensure that all projects are delivered on time, on budget, and on strategy.

The desired candidate will possess excellent organizational and communication skills, as well as be familiar with project management in a creative agency atmosphere.
The Accountant will prepare financial reports to track the organization’s assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities. We are a fast-growing company and are looking for a candidate also interested in a promotional career path to a management role.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
- Performs general cost accounting and other related duties in the accounting department.
- Prepares periodic (monthly) balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements.
- Maintains the general ledger.
- Codes invoices, sets up new accounts, reconciles accounts, and closes the monthly books.
- Reconciles bank accounts at least monthly, verifies deposits, and addresses inquiries from banks.
- Reconciles customer accounts and manages accounts receivable collections.
- Verifies payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.
- Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform an annual audit.
- Files required tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies.
- As appropriate, coordinates with the software vendor to maintain the accounting software system; recommends updates to enhance the accounting software.
- Ability to research and record on multi-state taxes.
- Organized and prompt registration and filing for new state employer IDs.
- Strong understanding of financial principles, including financial statements, budgeting, taxation, cash flow, and auditing.
- Strong desire to learn the evolving regulations, standards, and technologies in Finance.
- Manage change in a positive and productive way.
- Supports the creation and execution of financial reports with quality.
- Supports month-end and year-end close with timelines.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Experience
- Extensive knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.
- Understanding of and ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
- Highly proficient with accounting software.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
- Minimum of 1 year QuickBooks Experience.
- Minimum of 1 year NetSuite Experience.
Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university;
Salary: $60,000 – $65,000 per year, depending on experience.
